Meet Our Educators

Let our educators introduce themselves to you and your children

Hello, my name is Sue Collinson and I am an early childhood teacher and director of MHCPS. I have been teaching at this wonderful preschool for almost forty years, so long in fact I now teach the grandchildren of the first families I met and I taught some of our parents. I have seen successive management committees work tirelessly to raise money resulting in the provision of excellent resources and the community owning the building and land we occupy.

Proudly not-for-profit and community based makes a huge difference- our focus has always been providing high quality experience and learning for our children. While working with many gifted teachers and educators I have learnt so much and have great respect for the involvement of families in our programs. I enjoy the challenge of helping children learn, creating a nurturing environment and especially value the very special and close relationships I have with children. I absolutely love having a wink returned to me from a child who has connected with us! We have fun at preschool.

Sue Collinson (Mrs Collinson)

Tayla Godwin (Miss Tayla)

Hello, my name is Tayla and I have been an Early Childhood educator for eight years. I started working in early education because I enjoy working with children and love how rewarding it is. Before starting at MHCPS, at the beginning of 2023, I worked for a professional surfer as his full-time nanny and travelled with the family. My partner is from Bali where we spent a period of time living together. This allowed me to respect and understand a place of diversity while gaining knowledge of different cultural practices that are important in my practice as an educator.

Morgan Gerrick (Miss Morgan)

Hello, I’m Morgan. I am one of the educators at MHCPS. I completed my Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care in 2021. Before that I was an OSHC Coordinator at a primary school for three years. Last year I completed my Certificate II and III in Australian sign language (Auslan) and have been working with the children to incorporate this into our centre. A little bit about me: I am a mother to a smart but cheeky little girl named Ellora. We love going on adventures together, and prior to having her I had travelled to twenty-five counties. I love all things Disney and my favourite colour is blue. I have six chickens and a school of fish.

Kelly Harmes (Miss Kelly)

I have been working as an educator for 27 years. I feel privileged to work with children and share the natural joy they experience. I am the proud mother of a wonderful son and a lovely daughter-in-law who I enjoy spending my spare time with.

Melissa Morgan (Miss Mel)

I have worked in childcare for twenty-four years in both Preschool and Long Day Care. I love working with children and forming relationships with families. I have five daughters, eight grandchildren and to dogs. I love cooking, travelling and visiting my grandchildren.

Karlie Gilshenan (Miss Karlie)

Hello, I’m Miss Karlie. I have worked in the industry for five years. My passion is building relationships with children. I have three children, two stepdaughters, and I recently became a grandmother for the first time. My hobbies include learning to sew, going to the beach and spending time with family and my two dogs. I am looking forward to watching your children grow and learn.

Lauren Holbert (Miss Lauren)

I've been working at MHCPS for just over four years.

I am passionate about developing supportive relationships with all children and their families.

I believe this is the key to unlock every child's potential which keeps me motivated.

I also feel strongly about embedding Indigenous perspectives into my daily practice.

I have a young family who keep me busy. We love to spend our weekends at the beach, playing soccer and bike riding.

Jamaika Jordan (Miss Jamaika)

Hello everyone, I’m Jamaika. I have been working in early childhood education for the past ten years, both in Australia and England. My favourite part of my job is guiding and nurturing all children and my colleagues. In my spare time I enjoy going to the beach, travelling and spending time with my dog.

Elese Ireland

Hello, I’m Miss Elese. I am very excited to be working at MHCPS and can’t wait to meet everyone.
I have three young children who all attend primary school.
We enjoy camping in our caravan and I am often found watching my children play sports of all kinds.
