Due to many days of rain this week the children used this opportunity to engage in block play which resulted in a city being built complete with a two lane highway which extended across two rooms and around tables and chairs. Some children also built a farm and a house and introduced people and animals to their design.
When children build with blocks it provides many opportunities for the development of children’s creativity and imagination. Opportunities for learning about mathematical concepts of size, shape, space and weight are also discovered.
Children show that they are confident and involved learners when they follow and extend their own interests with enthusiasm, energy and concentration. EYLF L.O.4.1
